Jason Karl PhD

Dr. Karl is an Associate Professor and the Harold F. and Ruth M. Heady Endowed Chair of Rangeland Ecology at the University of Idaho. He received his undergraduate and Master’s degrees from the University of Idaho, and his Ph.D. in Fisheries and Wildlife with a specialization in Environmental Science and Public Policy from Michigan State University. Prior to coming to the UI, Dr. Karl spent 8 years as a Research Scientist for the USDA Agricultural Research Service in southern New Mexico and 8 years as an Ecologist with the Idaho Chapter of The Nature Conservancy. Dr. Karl’s research focuses on rangeland assessment and monitoring and the use of information in rangeland management decision making.”
